CONWAY — The historic Saco Covered Bridge will remain closed for a few months following a motor vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon that damaged the state-owned and maintained 1890-built bridge. It will remain open, however, for pedestrians.

Interviewed at the scene Thursday morning as he and fellow bridge maintenance crew members assessed the damage to the bridge, Andy Hall, senior engineer for bridge maintenance for the state's Department of Transportation, said that the historic wooden bridge suffered substantial damage to a 30-foot wooden guardrail.

How can anyone be so stupid to hit the side of the bridge. What a moron. Probably drunk or texting or both. Why isn't this reported?
