OSSIPEE — An Ossipee man has been acquitted of charges that he strangled, kicked, punched and threatened a then-21-year-old relative with a machete. Other charges were dismissed by a judge.

On Aug. 25, a Carroll County Superior Court jury found Joseph Souza Jr. not guilty of domestic violence strangulation, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, and five counts of domestic violence simple assault that alleged he kicked a male relative in the chest, grabbed his arm/shirt and punched him in face.
