Joe Ferreira and his wife, Nancy, have owned the Yankee Smokehouse (the landmark eatery under the sign of the big, pink pig at the corner of Route 16 and Route 25) in West Ossipee for 17 years, but it’s been at that corner a lot longer.

“It was originally started by Mary and Lloyd Kerr in 1982,” according to Chef Joe, who previously managed restaurants for 20 years before moving to the area from Massachusetts’ North Shore.
